The Canaan Park & Ride provides a convenient and welcoming place for residents, commuters, visitors, and travelers to meet, park, and continue their journey. Whether you are carpooling to work, meeting family or friends, heading to a community event, or exploring the Northeast Kingdom, northern New Hampshire, or nearby Quebec, the Canaan Park & Ride offers a practical and accessible location in the heart of town.
Located at the Canaan Community Office Building, the facility is easy to find and provides a well-lit parking area for public use.

The Park & Ride is open and available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. It includes 12 designated parking spaces, including accessible parking spaces. Additional parking may be available, when needed, within the Town Office parking lot.
Parking at the Canaan Park & Ride is free of charge and is intended for public parking related to commuting, carpooling, ridesharing, appointments, events, and regional travel.
For residents, the Park & Ride is a helpful resource for carpooling, ridesharing, work travel, medical appointments, school events, and regional transportation connections. Using the Park & Ride can help reduce fuel costs, limit vehicle wear, and make longer commutes easier by providing a central meeting point.
For visitors, the facility offers a convenient place to meet before heading out to enjoy the many recreational, cultural, and community opportunities in and around Canaan. Its location makes it a useful starting point for trips into Vermont’s Northeast Kingdom, New Hampshire’s North Country, and the nearby Canadian border region.
When the Town Office is open during regular business hours, Park & Ride users are welcome to use the building’s public restrooms and water fountain as needed. The property also includes a large lawn area where visitors may enjoy the outdoors, take a break, or eat lunch before continuing their travels.
The parking lot is well lit at night, making it a convenient option for early morning departures, evening returns, and seasonal travel.
Please note that bus routes do not currently run through this location. The Canaan Park & Ride is intended primarily as a location for parking, carpooling, ridesharing, and meeting others for regional travel.
Due to size constraints, trailers, campers, RVs, and commercial vehicles are not permitted at the Park & Ride.
Winter parking is allowed. Please note, however, that the Town conducts regular winter plowing and snow removal. If a vehicle is left in a location that interferes with snow removal, the Highway Crew will do its best to plow around the vehicle, but snow may be left around it. Drivers should plan accordingly and understand that vehicles may need to be cleared out upon return.
Extended parking is permitted. However, if a vehicle will be left at the Park & Ride for more than one week, users are encouraged to contact the Town Office in advance so the Town is aware that the vehicle has not been abandoned. Providing notice helps avoid confusion and reduces the possibility of the vehicle being removed or towed.
