Canaan Recreational Park
Image:

The Canaan Recreation Park serves as an important gathering place for residents and visitors alike, offering a wide variety of recreational opportunities for people of all ages. Located near the Alice M. Ward Memorial Library, the park provides a welcoming space for outdoor activity, community events, and family gatherings.

Developed with the help of a federal grant in 1989, the park has grown into a well-used community resource. Today it features a ½-mile paved walking path, which is popular with residents for walking, running, and enjoying the outdoors. Additional amenities include a splash pad, playground, tennis courts, basketball court, fitness stations, two soccer fields, and two baseball fields, providing opportunities for both organized sports and casual recreation.

During the winter months, the park continues to serve the community. The walking path and surrounding trails are groomed by the Canaan Border Riders snowmobile club, and the parking area is plowed and maintained as an official VAST trail parking location, allowing easy access to the region’s extensive snowmobile trail network.

The park is also a popular location for community gatherings, parties, social events, and family reunions, offering a comfortable outdoor setting where residents and visitors can come together and enjoy the many recreational opportunities that Canaan has to offer.
